Photo electric Sensor

Photoelectric sensors with laser technology are the number one choice when it comes to detecting tiny objects and detection under challenging ambient conditions. They are the ideal solution even under critical ambient conditions such as reflections from shiny surfaces, ambient light from modern energy-saving lights, in the event of restricted space, or when detection through small drill holes is required.

Laser triangulation

Triangulation is based on distance measurement through angle calculation. The sensor projects a light spot onto the object to be detected. The light reflected from the object hits the receiver array of the sensor at an angle that depends on the distance. The distance of the object is determined based on the position of the light spot on the receiver element.

Time-of-flight process

In time-of-flight measurement (optical time-of-flight), the distance between the sensor and object is derived from the measured time which passes between when the sensor emits the light pulse (laser diode, LED, …) and the reflection returns back to the receiver.

Level monitoring

Level control of liquids and bulk materials with ultrasonic distance sensors offers process reliability independent of the material, even under adverse environmental conditions such as dust, dirt or mist.

Positioning, presence monitoring, collision protection

Large-scale detection of objects with different shapes and reflective properties via ultrasonic technology maximizes machine flexibility for reliable positioning, presence control and collision protection.

Monitoring of assembly processes

The OD Mini uses triangulation technology to control assembly processes in series production. Due to its small design, it is extremely flexible and can be used in many other applications.

SICK’s vast range of photoelectric sensors offer precise optics and advanced technology, creating market-leading solutions with sensor intelligence. By using the latest SIRIC® and LED technologies, these sensors offer the highest level of operational reliability regardless of any interference factors. Additional sensor information can be used to simplify modern production processes.

This extensive range of photoelectric sensors is used in many automation applications around the world.
